Personal Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (encrypted). For paid subscriptions, Razorpay collects payment information securely.

File Scan Data: File scanning is hash-based — we compute a SHA-256 fingerprint and check it against multiple threat intelligence databases. Your actual file is never uploaded or stored. We store scan results, file hashes, threat levels, and AI analysis reports.

Usage Data: We track scan history, subscription status, and usage quotas to enforce plan limits and improve our service.

Automatically Collected: IP address, browser type, device information, and access times for security and analytics purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide file scanning and security analysis services
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions (via Razorpay)
  • Send transactional emails (scan results, payment receipts)
  • Enforce usage quotas based on your subscription plan
  • Improve our AI analysis and threat detection algorithms
  • Comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud

3. Third-Party Services

Threat Intelligence APIs: File hashes (not your files) are checked against third-party threat databases for malware detection. No personal data is shared with these services.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption:

  • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
  • Database connections use SSL/TLS encryption
  • Files are NOT stored on our servers (only hashes and analysis results)
  • Payment information is handled exclusively by Razorpay (PCI-DSS compliant)
  • Data stored in secure data centers (Supabase/AWS)

5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request account and data deletion
  • Data Portability: Export your scan history and data
  • Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails (we don't send marketing emails)

6. Data Retention

Scan Results: Retained for 90 days for free users, 1 year for paid subscribers.
Account Data: Retained until you request deletion.
Payment Records: Retained for 7 years (legal requirement in India).
Deleted Accounts: Data anonymized within 30 days of deletion request.

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. No third-party advertising cookies are used. You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may affect functionality.

8. Children's Privacy

SafeSearchScan is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in servers located outside your country (AWS/Supabase regions). We ensure adequate safeguards are in place for international transfers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of SafeSearchScan after changes constitutes acceptance.
